The Virtual Red Arrows: History
The Virtual Red Arrows was founded in 2005, flying nine BAE Systems T1 Hawks on Lock On Flaming Cliffs, the predecessor of Digital Combat Simulator (DCS), which is currently utilized as the teams’ platform.
Performing their first live show in 2009 at the Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams, the Virtual Red Arrows display is tailored as closely as possible to the RAF Red Arrows routines, expressing respect to their dedication and unrivalled skills.
The Virtual Red Arrows (VRA) continue to train hard weekly, providing the virtual aerobatic stage with new and never before seen demonstrations.
The Virtual Red Arrows consist of nine active pilots and support staff from different parts of the world that all follow and share the same passion for the Red Arrows and formation aerobatics.
Equipped with top tier equipment supplied by their sponsor Thrustmaster, including their most popular hardware such as the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog and the new TPR pendular rudder pedals.

With the modern age of technology expanding today, the team are equipped with virtual reality headsets such as Oculus Rift and Odyssey 2 for in simulator motion tracking, bringing the immersion of reality into the simulators hands.
In 2018 the Virtual Red Arrows were fortunate enough to work with their sponsor Thrustmaster at the Royal International Air Tattoo. Where the Virtual Red Arrows got the chance to meet Red Arrows pilot Adam Collins the supervisor and narrator for the RAF Red Arrows in 2019.
Impressed by the experience, the Royal Air Force produced a video document of this very historic moment for the Virtual Red Arrows.

During the pandemic of 2020, The Virtual Red Arrows once again had the fantastic chance to work with the RAF Red Arrows, producing content for the Virtual Air Tattoo 2020.
The Royal Air Force supported the group with media production, quality of flight and direct communication for the team to aid in the production of the best VRA display of 2020.
